American Tutors Online™ (ATO) deeply respects the rights of privacy of its clients and wants to assure you that your privacy is our concern. To that end, ATO wants you to feel confident about the privacy and security of your personal information as well as the student’s and we have instigated our Privacy Policy in order to demonstrate this commitment to your privacy. We want to stress to you, that although some organizations sell or share Customer information to outside marketers, ATO does not participate in this practice.
USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION:
ATO may ask you for personal identifiable information about your student and family situation in order to allow us to provide professional tutoring services. For example, you may be asked to complete a Parent/Student Information Form. This information is important for both our educational diagnostic process as well as the on-going tutoring. This information is kept confidential and any details that you provide to us are stored for use on future occasions, as we do not want you to give us any information more than once. Access to Customer Information is limited to those individuals who need to know the information in order to service your account. ATO employees and contractors are bound by a strict code of ethics and are subject to disciplinary action for any violation of this code.
ATO may determine that it is advisable that we discuss details of the student or his (her) progress with the student’s teacher or counselor. In those cases, the parent or guardian will be asked to complete a Release (Teacher Information Permission Form) which gives us permission to have those conversations (unless the student is eighteen years old or over and then the student can complete the Release Form). The results of those conversations are kept confidential. If you do not complete and sign the Release, we will not contact the teachers or counselors.
Once you register on the ATO web site and/or sign in for our services, you are no longer anonymous to us. Any details that you provide to us are stored for use on future visits. Personally identifiable information may be combined with other information in order to improve our services to the student, however be assured that the information is kept confidential.
We may collect and retain the e-mail addresses of those who communicate with us via e-mail or other ways; the e-mail addresses of those who become members at our website or by phone; user-specific information on what pages the user’s access or visit; and information volunteered by the user, such as survey information and/or site registrations. The information we collect may be used to improve the content of our website, customize the content and/or layout of our pages for each individual visitor, notify consumers about updates to our website and contact members for marketing purposes. If you do not want to receive e-mail from us in the future, please contact us to that effect.
The information that we collect shall remain confidential and may be used by ATO only and will not be sold or traded to any non ATO entity.
CREDIT CARD INFORMATION:
When submitting a credit card to us, ATO may submit information to the credit institution for normal, routine processing. ATO does not share credit history or credit card information with other unaffiliated companies or third parties, unless compelled by law or court order to do so. We respect the privacy of our clients.
We store your sensitive information in secure operating environments that are not available to the general public. We have taken all necessary safeguards and security measures to protect your privacy. However, you recognize and accept that under the current technology, where ATO sometimes uses technical protective security programs in conjunction with its services, that ATO cannot in any way whatsoever provide or imply an absolute warranty of security and protection to you.

The ATO website may contain links and/or advertisements to other websites ("Third-Party Sites"). These links are provided solely for convenience to our Clients. If you utilize these links, you have left the ATO website. ATO has not reviewed all Third-Party Sites and does not control or make any representations about any information contained therein. If you decide to access any of the Third-Party Sites, you do so at your own risk. ATO recommends familiarizing yourself with the security and privacy policies of any new website you visit.
CHANGES TO PRIVACY POLICY:
ATO reserves the right to modify the Privacy Policy at any time. You are advised to review the Privacy Policy each time you utilize the ATO website, as your continued use of the website and services denotes your assent to any modifications.
DISCLOSING INFORMATION FOR LEGAL PURPOSES:
ATO may disclose Client Information if so required law or a good-faith belief such action is necessary. This may be done in the following instances (list not all-inclusive):
- to conform with the law or comply with legal process served on A+ or its affiliates
- to protect and defend our rights or the rights of our Customers
- an audit or examination by any governmental agency
- to protect the personal safety of our Customers or the public
- in connection with a merger, consolidation or sale of substantial assets of ATO.
